If you don’t already know by now, Australian-born writer/illustrator Shaun Tan produces the most enchanting picture books that leave an impression on readers both young and old.

His 2000 book The Lost Thing has been brought to life in an exquisite 15-minute animated short film. Co-directed by Andrew Ruhemann, the already award winning film is up for an Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards!

Check out the trailer for a glimpse of the wonderfully crafted short. And be sure to keep those fingers crossed.
